Age Meter

Measure an avatar and get the age their height reads as.

OS

Touch the meter, pick M or F, and it measures the avatar standing at it and says the age that height reads as. That is the whole interaction — and almost all of the engineering is in making sure it always gives the meter back.

The meter cannot be left stretched over somebody

Every path that moves, scales or fades it has a timeout that puts it back: the menu being ignored, the web side going quiet, the avatar walking off, the sim restarting mid-measurement, or the script being reset while it is extended. Home position, size and alpha are kept in the object description, so a reset or a region restart still knows where home is.

One user at a time

A second toucher arriving while the meter is standing over somebody used to record the displaced spot as home, and it never went back. The meter now serves one person at a time, and an owner touch frees a busy meter.

The number is checked before it is spoken

The reply is validated rather than read straight out — an error page is no longer announced on chat. llGetAgentSize is checked too: an avatar who had left the region used to measure 0.15m tall, and that number went to the web side.
